A little story
Why Jeż ? Why Kiwerski ?
Luk MARQUAY MARKIEWICZ – producer & designer of Jez Acoustic
I worked in high school as a PE teacher. I was also involved in sports coaching. We know how beautiful this profession is, but we also know how much noise a classroom makes, and how many sounds bounce off the wall in a sports hall. I love noise, rock’n roll and saturated and loud guitars. At concerts I used to climb on the speakers but I worked my ear as a musician and today I am looking for the most pleasant sounds for me, but it does not mean that I don’t climb on the speakers anymore. Maybe also because my passion has always been rock climbing. Today I compose music, write music and record audiobooks. I have a very close contact with music and sound everyday.

Ryszard Kiwerski (1930 – 2015) – Artysta malarz, designer
The Artist of the Sun has always loved to paint and design 3D compositions on walls, ceilings and floors. He also created illustrations, photo montages, advertisements and movie posters. In 1975, he was awarded a gold medal for posters exhibited at the Cannes Film Festival. His works are currently in the archives of the Center Pompidou, in the Forney and Arsenal libraries, in the Cinémathèque of Paris, private collections as well as in museums of Wilanów, Łódź and Poznań. At the end of the 20th century, he invented the concept of PARAPENTURE and artograms reflecting the movement of the Earth around the sun. When I was 8 years old, he offered me a compass that did not show north, so he taught me to look for north with a watch and the sun. Currently, over 2,000 paintings show that the Earth revolves around the sun. “Concrete Abstraction in Verticality”. I remember those words to this day.

Jeż : hedgehog
While building the first prototype of the Jeż acoustic panel, I noticed that something was moving under thick, heavy wooden planks that were almost impossible to lift or move. There, a little hedgehog got stuck under the weight of the boards, and because of its spikes it could not get out. And when I tried to help him, I was afraid of hurting him.
This particular anecdote inspired me to name the Jeż® (hedgehog), especially since the acoustic diffuser of the first prototype resembles the spikes of a hedgehog. By the way, Kiwerski painted the sun while hedgehogs don’t like the sun too much.
